"Why can't we go back to the lair?" Metrocity asked, pushing her younger brother's stroller down the street beside Minion, who was pushing the stroller containing the twins. It was cold out, the wind blowing feircely, and the blue girl pulled her black leather trenchcoat tighter before halting and leaning down to tuck Master-Mind's blanket more firmly around him.
"It's your parent's anniversary," Minion answered, waiting for her to finish before they continued walking. They didn't really have any destination. They had been walking around the city for about an hour now, and catching the pale tint to Metrocity's skin, he decided it would be time soon to stop and get the children something to eat. "And they'd like to have some time to themselves today."
"What's an 'Antivers-ar-y?" Metrocity asked, quirking her brow. She'd never heard of that before.
"Anniversary," her fish-gorrilla-nanny corrected. "It's the reunion of your parents' marriage." Metrocity blinked.
"Why didn't anyone tell me about it before?" she asked, suddenly a little hurt. She was an entire six years old! She should have been aware of this sooner. She had already known people celebrated the date they were married, as they did the day of their birth (she had celebrated the reunion of her own birth just six days ago, on Halloween (or, as she and her father called it, 'Olloween')); she just hadn't known what it was called. Minion shrugged.
"This is the first year your parents have been able to celebrate it between work, saving the city, and taking care of you kids. What do you want for lunch?"
"Can we have pizza?" Metrocity asked, and Minion agreed. But the subject still lingered on her mind. She was, after all, a very intelligent six-year-old, and had a hard time letting go of subjects she wanted to learn more about. "So," she said as they walked into the pizza parlor, immediately gaining back a bit of her darker blue color, "why did they choose Noveembar to get married?"
"Why shouldn't they?" Minion asked as they were seated, Metrocity helping to set up the booster seat for two-year-old Master-Mind while he set up the highchairs for Oobermind and Blueberry.
"It's cold!" Metrocity exclaimed as if it were obvious. "And not even the kind of cold where there's snow--Just frost, wind, and dead leaves."
"Well," Minion said, "they thought it would be a good time, I guess. They never really said. But it might have something to do with Mrs. Ritchi's birthday being next week."
"Oh," Metrocity said, removing her coat and snuggling down into the booth with her menue--It was an adult's menue, not a kid's menue with just pictures and no words. This was their favorite pizza place, and everyone knew by now that Metrocity wasn't the average six-year-old. "That makes sense. What do you want, Master-Mind?" she asked her little brother.
"Pepperoni," he stated matter-of-factly before returning to his coloring book. She nodded and went back to scanning the menue, more to have something to do than to actually figure out what she wanted. Suddenly she dropped the menue on the table and started counting on her fingers. She bit her bottom lip, staring into space, deep in thought. Then she looked back to Minion, her face solemn.
"I'm going to have a new sibling in August, aren't I?"
     Minion's face went blank.
And they never spoke of it again. XDXD

Just a little fanfic about Metrocity asking questions...

Happy Megaversary all! :3
